Magic Essentials Casting The Circle

Magic Essentials Casting The Circle

A witch Casting the magic Circle

In ritual magic, the MAGIC CIRCLE and its casting is a very important part of the ritual, and it is also very good tactics for any spell casting.

The Circle intends to provide a secure and sanctified place for your magic to take place. It is your temple. YOUR HOLY GROUND.

There are many ways to cast A POWERFUL CIRCLE. Here I am going to present a simple, yet quite effective way, good for general practice, and easy to do by novices.

Draw an actual circle on the ground. CHARCOAL and SALT - one of them or both - are very good means to do so for their great magical powers, but at least use something you can see so that you can focus on it.

Now put FOUR CANDLES in every direction (that would be East, South, West and North). HINDUISM and BUDDHISM recognise eight directions (these are the above and the midpoints in between them). Therefore, you can either choose four or eight directions. Even if you are not a follower of these traditions, it can only be beneficial. If, on the other hand you are a follower of those traditions, there are actually many MANDALAS that can become circles.

Choose according to your beliefs/religion the divine entities you are calling in each direction. It is more usual to call upon ANGELS, DEMIGODS, DEITIES (but not Gods/Goddesses) and that kind of beings for the directions. In that aspect I would suggest the four ARCHANGELS:

RAPHAEL for EASTMICHAEL for SOUTHGABRIEL for WEST andURIEL for NORTH

If you want to summon a supreme being into the directions instead, you call this being with four or eight different names. KABBALISTS and CHRISTIAN practitioners sometimes call Yahweh with four names, one for each direction, Hindus call the God (i.e. SIVA, VISHNU) with 8 different names, one for each direction, and Buddhists call the eight Buddhas or the eight forms of Buddha accordingly.

Please notice that in these cases the name with which the God (or the Buddha) is summoned describes the familiarity of the God with this direction.

If you want to choose your Spirits/Gods from the pantheon you believe in and you don't know how, here is a quality list that may help you:

EAST is AIRSOUTH-EAST is SMOKESOUTH is FIRESOUTH-WEST is CLOUD (vapour)WEST is WATERNORTH-WEST is MUDNORTH is EARTH (soil)NORTH-EAST is DUST.

For general practices start calling the GODS/SPIRITS from East (Air), or South (Fire). For Sexual Magic (Sex Magic) the best starting point is South. After that keep on going clockwise (start from South and move accordingly to the hands of the clock).

After summoning the directions, it's time for some spiritual work. Perform the BALANCING BREATHING EXERCISE, or at least take some deep breaths. Then visualize a sphere of light-blue light surrounding the circle. That means that it goes over and UNDER the circle as well. Continue doing this for as long as you need. It is a very important step. In fact, if you are going to perform a simple spell this step can be the whole casting of the circle.

NOW, THE CIRCLE IS PRACTICALLY READY. You only need to summon the Gods and you are ready.

Now, when you finish whatever you are doing, you should Release the Circle. You cannot trap the Holy Beings in the circle of course. They are there only because they wanted to answer your call, and not because somehow you forced them to. But it is not kind to go and leave them without sending them away.

So after you finish your job, thank first the Gods/Spirits you have summoned inside the completed circle, and send them away. Then start thanking and releasing the entities you have summoned for each direction.

There is a difference in opinions on how you should release those entities. Some believe you should start from the ending point and end in the direction you have started summoning them, while others, including me, believe that you should release them in the same order you have called them. Choose what feels right for you.

Some things you should remember. This casting is not complete so unless you know very well what you are doing, DON'T USE IT FOR EXORCISMS AND SPIRIT MATERIALIZATIONS (spiritual manifestation). If you do so, on your own risk, remember to have the possessed human(s) in a separate circle out of your circle. In spirit materialization, the SPIRIT should be materialized in a special prepared spirit triangle or ALTAR, which will also be out of the circle. Finally, although the circle would provide you with enough safety from any evil spirit, if you are summoning a demon you are surely unsafe inside any circle you may cast. If you have summoned the demon, he/she can do as he/she pleases. Although, the demon may pretend - or even say - that he/she cannot enter the circle.

Play safe, respect the divine and recognise your limits.

Discover, Play, Love!
