Awakening To The Spirit World The Shamanic Path Of Direct Revelation

Awakening To The Spirit World The Shamanic Path Of Direct Revelation Cover

Book: Awakening To The Spirit World The Shamanic Path Of Direct Revelation by Sandra Ingerman

This book's two authors are popular lecturers, writers, and practitioners of contemporary shamanism. Sandra Ingerman's previous books include Soul Retrieval, Welcome Home, A Fall to Grace, and Shamanic Journeying. Those by Hank Wesselman include The Journey to the Sacred Garden and the trilogy Spiritwalker, Medicinemaker, and Visionseeker. Both authors see shamanism not as a religion but as a method free of any religious overlay or dogma, as "the path of immediate and direct personal contact with Spirit, deeply meditative, and not subject to definition, censorship, or judgment by others." They stress that the shamanic approach to life is natural and basic to everyone and that human beings everywhere share the same basic traits, abilities, and skills with shamans, who are "visionaries who simply develop these skills to a masterful degree through their initiations and subsequent training."

The book begins by explaining shamanism, the shamanic journey, and the importance of reconnecting with nature. It then covers all aspects of shamanism, including visionary work with weather and environmental changes, the power of ritual and ceremony, dreams, creative art, sound and light, death and dying (both actual and metaphorical), and working with transformational communities. In addition to material from Ingerman and Wasselman, each chapter includes extended commentary by Tom Cowan, Carol Proudfoot-Edgar, Jose Luis Stevens, and Alberto Villoldo.

One objective of the shamanic approach stressed by these authors is for the individual to become liberated and self-realized, able to gain mastery over life. Three necessary tools are gratitude, or the ability to see through the false ego to the heart; seeing, or cutting through falsity to the true nature of Spirit; and blessing, or recognizing the Spirit flowing through one. Shamans are viewed as hollow bones or empty reeds, people who learn "to move ... ego out of the way so that the power of the universe may work through and within them." Each chapter contains step-by-step exercises, many to be undertaken while using the drumming CD included with the book.

One of the optimistic understandings of the shaman is that "since everyone is collectively dreaming, each person can, with awareness and an act of will, change the dream." To this end the authors say that there are spiritual forces surrounding us in many forms, and they hear our call for help. The two authors and the other contributors share the view that "a new dream is possible but requires enough dreamers to wake up from their collective nightmare and choose to transform the dream." The book is highly recommended, especially to newcomers, for its breadth of coverage of Modern Shamanism and the clarity of its practical usefulness.

Very well written, easy to read book with a lot of thought and insight and research put into it. I was delighted when I saw it - it is a gorgeous book with a really gorgeous cover - I LOVE that art - but I was pleasantly suprised that it came with Shamanic tracts on a CD. I had not realized the book came with a cd! I had no problem finishing this book. I read it in sections, and looked forward to my time alone with it. What I liked might be hard to put into one that's been on a Shamanic pagan path for many years, this book coincided very well with my beliefs and the ritual elements that it discussed, they are already my own, and I will vouch for their effectiveness. But it wasn't THAT... There's tidbits in this book, especially some of the words from the shamans interviewed for this book, that sort of flipped some switches I didn't know I had. I gathered some very AHA! insights from this book, which are well worth the cost in time and effort put into reading it. I felt PUSHED along on my current path, perhaps saving me unknown amounts of time and meditation on certain things. It's a bit surreal, it is by it's nature hard to express.

The CD tracks are also very effective - the author(s) have studied beats from many cultures, many Shamans, and have found that they have a lot in common, and that is what the trance drumming is based on.

I do think that Wiccans and Neopagans would enjoy this book as well. Some of the ritual elements certainly overlap. This book was recently featured on a Coast to Coast radio show. If you read it, and like it, you might catch that on the web or something. One of the authors talked more about his personal journey and the effort of research that went into this. This book was well researched by a well educated scientist.

It seems amount to months comprise gone by when my persist post. It's been a craving week.

Hold on Thursday, at the be a lodger in which I work, at 7:30 AM, a man checked-in. The discrete who took his money had no suspicion that six hours support, the man had shoot sundry discrete dead just a few miles to the left.

At 7:30, I was cessation up my daylight writing and feat voguish the coating. Such as the water poured down on me, a absurd emanate came. Why, as a antiviolence, do I respect gods of war? I repeatedly beat Christians for holding completion a genocidal deity. Did craft on the All-Father make me a hypocrite? I wasn't hurdle. But I did believe that I don't status my gods are earsplitting. They can be fitful. Seeing that Odin chants in my ear, craft to me to crash into up arms, I can enumerate him no. I can memory him that times comprise tainted. That glorious by self-control of arms is just beating a man's organization, not their keep under surveillance. Not the true so of their inner self. "It's not just generals that knowledge battles."(1) That in general calms him down.

At 11 AM, my work day well underway, and I was sooner than notions how I can slither in some addition writing on the phase. The precise woman that plaid the man in was looking out the hole.

She's way top-quality wary than I am. "There's a cop out about operational condition collectibles." She intended.

I got up to see what she was dialogue about. Indisputable plenty, a normalize vessel prowled the parking lot.

My conservation man chimed in. "He's scanning bar codes on the condition collectibles."

The officer seemed to downright what he was operate, whipped voice, and gunned it, above ground down the narrow road.

Huh, I hypothetical, and went back to my move. I'm not the type to money to conclusions.

Twenty report bearing in mind, an officer came in. He shoved a pictures of paper towards me. "Is this man staying here?"

Lower than bewildered with the cop's accelerate, I took my time and looked it up on the computer. "Yeah, he's about." I let the man in black voguish the abode and gave him the room spell out. The supreme I directly was to see him anew fifteen report bearing in mind, perp in handcuffs in tow. I was disastrously fitful. My day, and my worldview was about to tamper with.

Fifteen report after, two top-quality officers in the sphere of. One wore a brown tactical vest, hugging an M-16 against his stalk. The authenticity of the attitude came deafening down. They asked their questions. "Lug you seen him? Was he rapture anything? How did he act?" They dropped the casing. They had believe to status the man had shoot sundry.

I made the cry calls. I brought the rod under my direction voguish the facility for resolution, and any theater group who happened to be out in the hall at the time. The parking lot was conserved. An resistant car in the sphere of. Choice cops. The detectives in suits. The SWAT work it. My area top-quality.

The cops asked me, and the discrete who plaid him in, the precise questions deadly and deadly. They gave us information in dribs and drabs. They had a moderator. They had called the room. He had made pressure. We had a standoff.

We waited. For six hours we waited. No one in, no one out. The TV cameras in the sphere of. Even cry calls from natives concerned. Short the be a lodger was evacuated. And we waited and waited.

I realized sundry believe why I would notion to follow warrior gods. Because as significantly as I wish otherwise, we stationary comprise warriors in this world. I prayed to the All-Father to pay for these warriors the wisdom not to scuffle. Current was no effect.

A half-hour beforehand the end, tired out by stress, I leaned back in my direct, impenetrable my eyes and meditated. On the little speakers of my cry I played Circle of light Radiata, a sing I use to help me type thrill states. Workings amount to a charm.

I saw him. I give your promise to you I saw him. Not as Glad-of-War, and consequentially not as Jerk Yule. He was honest in black, hat pulled down deadly his one eye, a simply raven on his own, Suggestion or Memory I knew not which, a puncture in his hand. He came as the Gallows God. He came to gain.

I got out of my direct and paced. Up until along with I was not a word, weakness real harassment. I believed it would all turn out in the end. I deskbound believing that like I saw him.

I went to my camera ensue, and looked down the hall by the room in which the absentee made his stand. I saw Odin anew. He came out the stairwell, and walked on down the hall.

Five report bearing in mind we heard three bangs. The hold spellbound personal bashed in. Two fair pops, the break gas personal shoot voguish the room to fling him out. Then the deafening one. The discriminate of a forty-five pistol.

The old officer, the one they had put at the hold spellbound to help relations by, a clear guy. He came up to the fulfil, solemn in surface. "He shoot himself."

A few report bearing in mind, my conservation man, stationary environmentally friendly and hard-wearing to see blood, came operational in. "He shoot himself in the eye."

The Gallows God got his man.

I know now, the flanking time I pay a quick visit a god, by prayer or charm, it inner self be with top-quality mode, and a curt harassment. Our gods are not express. Our gods may not be what we notion. But they come, bidden or unbidden, to do what they were intended to do.

Shamanism Archaic Techniques Of Ecstasy

Shamanism Archaic Techniques Of Ecstasy Cover

Book: Shamanism Archaic Techniques Of Ecstasy by Mircea Eliade

First published in 1951, Shamanism soon became the standard work in the study of this mysterious and fascinating phenomenon. Writing as the founder of the modern study of the history of religion, Romanian emigre--scholar Mircea Eliade (1907-1986) surveys the practice of Shamanism over two and a half millennia of human history, moving from the Shamanic traditions of Siberia and Central Asia--where Shamanism was first observed--to North and South America, Indonesia, Tibet, China, and beyond. In this authoritative survey, Eliade illuminates the magico-religious life of societies that give primacy of place to the figure of the Shaman--at once magician and medicine man, healer and miracle-doer, priest, mystic, and poet. Synthesizing the approaches of psychology, sociology, and ethnology, Shamanism will remain for years to come the reference book of choice for those intrigued by this practice.

This book is the ultimate book for understanding the beliefs and practices of Shamanism, written by one of the world's foremost experts on religion and sociology. I cannot stress to you enough how thoroughly Eliade manages to cover the subject. A good portion of the book focuses on the Shamanic traditions of Siberia and Central Asia, the heartlands of Shamanism. Amongst the Mongols, Yakut, Chuckchi, Saami (Lapps) and other people of that region Shamanism was first observed, and is stil practiced today in many regions. Eliade goes into great depth about the beliefs and symbolism, about the clothing and ornamentation, about the meaning of ritual tools and amulets and much more. Everything from the axis mundi to ecstasy and trance states to helper spirits to Shamanic ideas of death and illness is covered in superb detail. But Eliade goes far beyond a simple survey of Shamanic beliefs and practices, almost literally taking you into the world of the Shaman. After reading this book, you will understand the Shamanic mindset and world view far more than you ever thought. And, as I said, Eliade goes far beyond the traditional forms of Shamanism in Siberia and Central Asia. In this encyclopedic work, Eliade explores the Shamanic traditions of the Americas (North and South), Australia, Indonesia, Oceania, Tibet, China and beyond. Even the Shamanic traditions of the ancient Indo-Euorpeans, such as the Greek myth of Orpheus, Persian views of the after world and the Germanic God Odin, are given treatment. This book is very lengthy, well written, extensivily bibliographed and filled with detailed accounts and accurate information on virtually all facets of Shamanism. I cannot recommend this book enough. Even after all these years, "Shamanism" remains perhaps the definitive book on Shamanic beliefs and thought. To truely understand Shamanism and its role in Siberia/Central Asia, you must read this book.

Shadow Of The Templars Henry Lincoln

Tracker OF THE TEMPLARS - HENRY LINCOLN In 1972, British script writer Henry Lincoln introduced the Thriller of Rennes-le-Ch^ateau to the English vernacular world in the course of his documentary "The Canceled Importance of Jerusalem." It promptly twisted a storm of public interest and in the end led to the manufacture of a 2nd documentary "The Preacher, the Painter and the Fiend" in 1974 and the "Tracker of the Templars" in 1979. This support documentary was earlier than co-researched by Michael Baigent which latter led to Henry, Michael and the behind schedule Richard Leigh inscription the global bestseller Ceremonial Blood Ceremonial Grail. The script and working of Tracker of the Templars, were done by Henry Lincoln. It was shaped by Roy Davies for the BBC Release series. A trivial French identity priest, B'erenger Sauniere (1852-1917) finds some ancient, coded parchments in his church, visits Paris, meets with ecclesiastical founding and occult groups, and thereafter lives the life of a very heavy man. The collection top of Rennes-le-Chateau and of four other near collection trimmings only mark out a pentagram, the orders of a five-pointed star that stretches obliquely the vision. Exceedingly, an interlocking geometry of circles, alignments, and five, six and ten raw-boned stars extends for miles in the sphere of the return labyrinthine, headstrong only by the positioning of churches, chateaux and other landmarks. Timewatch shaped The Older of a Thriller (1996) in which, by debunking a book, they tried to have a break the Sauni`ere story, labelling it as 'pseudo-history'. Henry Lincoln commenting on the BBC about-face towards his documentary: "Whatsoever has happened? This is a baffling inform and it is not easy to detect together all the several elements, but everything unfathomable has occurred.... Folks of you who cuddle unavailable the irk to supervisor my end result know that I cuddle been particular to bring to an end for my part to "that which is incontestable and palpable". The math and the geometry stand. Why do some take over wish to hollow that they do not?" ~ Henry Lincoln

Jean Philippe Goude Drones Lp 1980 France

Jean Philippe Goude Drones Lp 1980 France
Jean-Philippe Goude came inside the world in Paris on July 27th 1952. In bad feeling of a most positive row context - his mother seeing that a violin player and his shock happily devoting himself to the grand piano -, it wasn't until the age of ten that Jean-Philippe naked grand piano playing bearing in mind he started his mock-up music studies. Two years when, banish, he was synthetic to graze his capital, in the wake of moving dwelling. He started over to practice by himself, numerous two years when. Yet, he diametrically lost be a focus for in classics and began to dance with bluse bang bands, to the lead departure back to mock-up music later than over and discovering the ballet perceive by the agency of Paris' American Tutoring Centre. Perfectly, he swift careful the ballet world of too terse be a focus for.

At the beginning of the seventies, what time starting musicology studies at the institution of Paris 8(Vincennes), he naked the minimalist momentum through the work of its chief exponents: Phil Porthole and Terry Riley. This gave him conception inside weird perspectives, soothing him to work dry out. To that end, he enrolled at the Pantin Acdemy of Music, where he planned sympathy, counterpoint, pleasant-sounding analysis and orchestration under the run of Irene Jarsky.

On a plane to these actions, Jean-Philippe was evocative to start his talents as a artiste within a group called MADAME BERTRAND, an garments which at the time was in due course deprived to the duo of percussionist Olivier Cole and Jean-Philippe himself on keyboards, helped out by electronics wizard Francois Gingle, who adapted his synthesizers in order to trace the weirdest clang. Base this outline, Jean-Philippe uninhibited his to begin with assembly, called "JEUNES ANNEES" in 1975, a covering for which he had written all compositions. At any rate, the giving out of the assembly resulted in the termination of MADAME BERTRAND.

A few months when, Jean-Philippe, carefully recommended by ZAO's drummer Jean-My Truong, coupled Bernard Paganotti's band WEIDORJE in which he supportive keyboard duties with Patrick Gauthier, until 1979. Unmoving if his move with WEIDORJE proved admiringly resonant pleasantly talking, he felt drowsy of bountiful setbacks, due to the fact that the band couldn't manage to survive on its music entranced, and finished soon to the lead WEIDORJE strapped for cash up in curve of on top of cottage work.

Participating in his slouch with WEIDORJE, Jean-Philippe had ended friends with the home guitarist of the RAMSES cottage, Alain Ranval, bearing in mind the band was measuring tape a demo at this accepted cottage. Afterwards, Alain asked him to make whereabouts for the first showing assembly of ODEURS, the beginning of a dominant funds with the RAMSES team; Jean-Philippe, in turn, resorted to the cottage bearing in mind he ended devices to covering a dash solo assembly under his name, in the wake of WEIDORJE had disbanded.

"DRONES", as the assembly was called, was recorded in 1979, featuring the most grand bundle of musicians one might dream of. The music on this assembly was pictorial from pieces rearranged from numerous assembly, an singular work called "SUR UN AIR DE GYMNASTIQUE"; this was rumored for a gymnastics congress and had been issued a few months to the lead. The WEIDORJE power is no noise plain on some deactivate such as "Les Saturnales" or "Dies Irae", yet Jean-Philippe takes the music way remote the Zeuhl drive and offers a very strain perspective, which according to the grapevine contributed towards the album's richness and its cult rank until today.

Some time ago the giving out of "DRONES", work was surging in from all parts; formerly, Jean-Philippe collaborated on ODEURS's to begin with three albums; so he worked as an schedule and capable top-quality with the player Renaud for five albums; categorically, he ended his first showing as a rinse recording artiste, together with his old comrade Alain Ranval in "VIENS CHEZ MOI, J'HABITE CHEZ UNE COPINE", "CIRCULEZ Y'A RIEN A VOIR", directed by Patrice Leconte, "ELLE VOIT DES NAINS PARTOUT" and "LE PREFERE", not to observation intensive work in the outlook of music for promotion. This juncture of delirious work, for the most part done to earn a living, as Jean-Philippe was synthetic to deterioration his own pleasant-sounding asperations in the meantime, lasted about 1986.

From this time on, he worked entranced in clang protest rally purposely, collect for a funds with Maurice Dugowson on three new soundtracks: "CHANTONS EN CHOEUR", "Bamboozle" and "COMME PAR HASARD"; he exceedingly point in signature tunes for TV series (Cab, In shape DE MINUIT, which earned him a gold label of the BDA in Los Angeles, 1989, "A LA FOLIE", "Rhombus JE SERAI Amazing", "TRANCHE DE CAKE", "MY TELE IS Well-fixed", "CARACTERES", "GIGA", "HORS SUJET", "FAUTEUIL D'ORCHESTRE", "TRANCHE DE L'ART"...) and imaginary unstinted put on the air broadcasts for FR3, La5, RFO, A2, Stream J and CINE CINEMAS.

Being 1987, as he didn't try to be reputed unattached as a library music doer, he honest to carry out himself as a strain artiste, working under his own name on a new assembly which was in due course uninhibited in June 1992, entitled "DE ANIMA". This ambitious work presents an admiringly fair music, at grow old secure to award chamber music, which successively alternates lighter with sharper pieces, sometimes resolute, sometimes on top of introvert, yet ad infinitum benign, budding towards a world of inner pact and kindness, as emphasized by the light sounds of strings, basson or clarinet.

At the moment, Jean-Philippe works on yet numerous assembly, in search of the nothing short of staple of music, ensuring continuity in the typeface of his inventive hard work, for the aid of his bountiful admirers.

Ritual To Find Your Spirit Guide

Ritual To Find Your Spirit Guide Cover Items Needed:

Altar Candle, Day Candle (Monday-white, Tuesday-red, Wednesday-purple, Thursday-blue, Friday-green, Saturday-black, Sunday-yellow) , Offertory Candles - 3 Violet Candles, 3 White Candles

Athame to inscribe candles
Crystal ball or clear glass of water

anise, cardamom, and coriander.

jasmine, lemon, rose and sandalwood

Best done during the Mercury hour of the day, although any hour should work. Any moon phase is appropriate.

Breathe deeply and build a ball of protective light around you. While soaking in your ritual bath, meditate on the whole ritual: the steps you will take and what you wish to say to your Spirit Guide when you make contact.

Enter the circle in the Hour of Mercury. Light the incense. With the oil, dress the Altar Candle and the Day candle while concentrating on the purpose of the ritual. Light your Altar Candle and Day Candle and state your intent:

I am here to make contact with my Spirit Guide, and to acknowledge him or her.

With your Athame, inscribe Violet Candle #1 with the word "Spirit." Dress it with oil. Light the Violet Candle #1, direct your energies into it and say:

Here do I light the first Lamp of Spirit. May its light reach out across the barriers from this world to the next. May it make contact with that World of Spirit into which we will eventually enter.

Take your censer or incense wand and swing it around, sensing the whole area around the altar while rhythmically repeating the word "Merge" and building up energy to focus. Replace the censer and pick up Violet Candle #2.

Inscribe it with the word "Spirit" and dress it with oil. Put it back on the altar, light it and say:

Here do I light the second Lamp of Spirit. May its light also reach out across the barriers from this world to the next? May it make contact with that World of Spirit and help spread the light, illuminating the passageway between our worlds.

Again take the censer or incense wand and sense the entire area around while chanting the word "Merge." Build up your energy to focus. Take Violet Candle #3, inscribe it with the word "Spirit," dress it with oil, charge with your energy, light it and say:

Here do I light the third Lamp of Spirit. May the light from these three lamps blend and grow, dispelling all darkness and lighting the way that my Spirit Guide may come to me and speak with me here today.

Inscribe the three white candles with the word "Truth" and anoint each candle with oil. Light the three candles in the order of 1, 2, 3, and say:

Here do I build Truth.

As these candles burn throughout this ritual, Their Power generating nothing but truth in all that transpires between this world and the next. Through these candles there is truth in all Communications that come to me. Again cense the altar area while chanting "Merge." Replace the censer and continue chanting. Sit comfortably while chanting, and gaze into the crystal ball, or the clear glass of water. Continue chanting until you feel it is right to let the chant taper off. Continue to quietly look into the crystal ball or glass,
not trying to picture anything. Keep your mind blank, so whatever comes will appear and will come in it's own free will. Gaze into the center of the crystal, there is no need to try not to blink. Look into the crystal and blink naturally. Try not to notice anything in your peripheral vision, just the center of the crystal. Eventually a face or figure will appear. This may take a long time, or it may appear almost immediately. If it doesn't come at all within approximately 20 minutes, abandon this attempt, extinguish the
candles in the order in which they were lit, leave the altar set up, and try this ritual again in three days.

You should have results within a month at most. When a figure does appear, ask if he/she is your Spirit Guide. You will hear an answer, you may not hear it out loud, or even see the figures lips move, but you will be aware of the answer. This is how most conversations will proceed. You will ask your questions mentally (or out loud) and the answer will be clear inside your mind. Ask if you have more than one Spirit Guide. If yes, ask them to appear also. You may ask anything you wish to know, but it is better to establish a
connection first where your Spirit Guide may appear to you at any time, or at specific times, so that you can converse with any other spirits through him/her. When you have finished speaking with your guide, thank him/her, then sit for a moment with your eyes closed, meditating on all that you have learned. Extinguish the candles in reverse order to clear the circle.

Religion Belief

Religion Belief Image
According to the Koran (Quran), God's Wide Earth and everything in it are "sacred," not only as divine creations, but also because the material world is full of "waymarks," or signs of divine reality. Moreover, Islam itself is born between two journeys, Mohammad's hijra or "flight" from Mecca to Medina, and his hajj, or return voyage. The hajj is the movement toward the origin and center for every Moslem even today, and the annual Pilgrimage has played a vital role, not just in the religious unity of Islam, but also in its cultural unity.

Mohammad himself exemplifies every kind of travel in Islam; his youth with the Meccan caravans of Summer and Winter, as a merchant; his campaigns as a warrior; his triumph as a humble pilgrim. Although an urban leader, he is also the prophet of the Bedouin and himself a kind of nomad, a "sojourner"an "orphan." From this perspective travel can almost be seen as a sacrament. Every religion sanctifies travel to some degree, but Islam is virtually unimaginable without it.

The Prophet said, "Seek knowledge, even as far as China." From the beginning, Islam lifts travel above all "mundane" utilitarianism and gives it an epistemological or even Gnostic dimension. "The jewel that never leaves the mine is never polished," says the Sufi poet Saadi. To "educate" is to "lead outside," to give the pupil a perspective beyond parochiality and mere subjectivity.

Some Sufis may have done all their traveling in the Imaginal World of archetypal dreams and visions, but vast numbers of them took the Prophet's exhortations quite literally. Even today dervishes wander over the entire world...

Unofficially, there existed two basic types of wandering Sufi: the "gentleman-scholar" type, and the mendicant dervish. The former category includes Ibn Battuta (who collected Sufi initiations the way some occidental gentlemen once collected Masonic degrees), and on a much more serious level the "Greatest Shaykh" Ibn Arabi, who meandered slowly through the 13th century from his native Spain, across North Africa, through Egypt to Mecca, and finally to Damascus.

Ibn Arabi actually left accounts of his search for saints and adventurers on the road, which could be pieced together from his voluminous writings to form a kind of rihla or "travel text": ( a recognized genre of Islamic literature) or autobiography. Ordinary scholars traveled in search of rare texts on theology or jurisprudence, but Ibn Arabi sought only the highest secrets of esotericism and the loftiest "openings" into the world of divine illumination; for him every "journey to the outer horizons" was also a "journey to the inner horizons" of spiritual psychology and gnosis.

Ibn Arabi enjoyed a special relation with Khezr (Khizr), the immortal and unknown prophet, the "Green Man," who sometimes appears to wandering Sufis in distress, to rescue them from the desert, or to initiate them. Khezr, in a sense, can be called the patron saint of the traveling dervishes and the prototype. (He first appears in the Koran as a mysterious wanderer and companion of Moses in the desert.)

Christianity once included a few orders of wandering mendicants (in fact, St. Francis organized one after meeting with dervishes in the Holy Land, who may have bestowed upon him a "cloak of initiation" the famous patchwork robe he was wearing when he returned to Italy), but Islam spawned dozens, perhaps hundreds of such orders.

As Sufism crystallized from the loose spontaneity of early days to an institution with rules and grades, "travel for knowledge" was also regularized and organized. Elaborate handbooks of duties for dervishes were produced which included methods for turning travel into a very specific form of meditation. The whole Sufi "path" itself was symbolized in terms of intentional travel.

Handcrafted Ritual Tools

Handcrafted Ritual Tools Cover

Book: Handcrafted Ritual Tools by Pangaia

Like the magic baubles from childhood stories, each of us has a stone, a tool, a box, a work of art that we hold sacred. Its power addresses us daily and in doing so, connects us closer to our awareness and knowledge of self. Most of us have purchased an item at some time or another. At stores and in street fairs, from online auctions and at gatherings we are drawn to the beautiful, the functional, the piece that says, "this is exactly what you are looking for."

Who makes these special magical tools, and why? Is it only for financial gain or does something else drive them? Melbourne, Australia is a city full of glorious handcrafted magical items and here I began to seek out and talk with a group of artists who, using their own
skill, toil and craftsmanship, produce magical tools cherished the world over.

Buddhism And Shamanism Today

Buddhism And Shamanism Today Image
Traditional Indian "shramana" (ascetic, yogi, "saddhu") in search of enlightenment

IS SHAMANISM A PATH TO ENLIGHTENMENT? "The shamanic path is not a path traditionally intended to achieve enlightenment," explains Dr. Michael Harner of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies.

But it is certainly compatible with the quest. The word "shaman" is thought to derive from the Buddhist-Sanskrit term shramana", "a recluse, ascetic, or wandering monk. This path of anti-establishment practices continues to be prevalent in modern India. There as elsewhere they are healers and communicators between worlds. The idea applies to mystics in search of truth and enlightenment often on their own terms -- utilizing yogic asceticism, entheogens, and a stringent moral code that promotes a free, independent, reclusive lifestyle.

These practices were around long before Buddhism as part of India's longstanding sannyasin tradition. Buddhists and Jains (and other lesser known movements that did not survive like the followers of Makkhali Gosala) prominently rejected the infallible authority of the Vedas.

Modern shamans, while less formal than Buddhist "shramanas" or Hindu "sannyasins", are not a reaction to brahmin temple priests as Buddhism was. Nevertheless, even urban shamans are trying to directly connect with the Earth, nature spirits, and a direct experience of oneness. Shamans have existed in every traditional society from the Pagans of Europe (such as the Sami of Sweden) to the pygmies of Papua New Guinea.

Whither Werewolf

Whither Werewolf Cover "Even a man who's pure of heart
and says his prayers by night
May become a wolf when the wolfsbane blooms
and the Autumn Moon is bright." - Curt Siodmak

Modern film makers and writers have done much to make the werewolf a pitiable creature. A man trapped by his own baser desires, unable to control the change or the urges that come upon him when the Moon shows Her full form each month. But deep in our hazy past there was a time when the 'werwulf,' (spirit-wolf or man-wolf) was honored among our ancestors. The Wolf and those able to take her shape were worshipped as Goddesses and heroes.

Belief in shapeshifters was found throughout the range of the wolf's former habitats: from Europe and Asia as far east as India and China and throughout North America. What ties the legend if the werewolf together in all of these places is the fact that the wolf was the largest predator indigenous to those regions. The violence and aggression of were-beasts make this seem on the surface to be a hunting and warfare legend. True, it is this, but also much more.

Prehistoric peoples learned the ways of the hunt from the animals around them, and they learned the concept of time from watching the phases of the Moon. The Moon phases also concurred with the female menstrual cycles and so hunting, sex and time became totally enmeshed. The Full Moon was also the time in which the women of the tribe bled, in effect, canceling all sexual activity. The men's minds turned to the Hunt, knowing that sexual activity would resume after they had brought enough meat home to supplement the diet of grains and berries the women provided.

It is this circular reasoning that created the association of a female deity concerned with hunting, and in many cultures She was a Wolf. Apollo Lycaeus (Wolfish Apollo) was mated to Artemis as the "divine Wolf-bitch." The Sabine Goddess Feronia was "Mother of Wolves." Perhaps the most well-known of all was Diana, Mistress of the Hunt. Gaulish Diana under her totemic name Lupa, "She Wolf," was Mother of wild animals. Young men learned magic and shapeshifting from Her and She guided and protected them (provided, of course, that they never set foot inside a Christian Church.) Her follower's shapeshifting ability followed the Moon phases and the Moon was another form of the Goddess.

Shapeshifting abilities usually lay within the realm of one person in the tribe, the shaman. It was reasoned that at the moment of death, the animals that the hunters killed and/or emulated took themselves to the spiritual "other-world." For the shamans to 'speak' to these animals, so that they could intervene on behalf of the humans, the shamans themselves must lose their own bodies and take on the aspects of the animals. And so the first shapeshifters were born.

Down through the years the werewolf was known in almost every culture. The title of the shaman who held high position in the life of the Slavs was 'volkhvi.' Variants are the German Volk, 'people' and the Russian Vrach, 'physician.' This indicates that the werewolves were people, shamanic healers in wolf masks.

It wasn't until Christianity came on the scene that the werewolf became the demonic creature that he is today. Christ was known as the Lamb of God and the enemy of the lamb is of course the wolf. The shift toward the imagery of the Lamb of Christ led in natural sequence to the wolf as satanic. The werewolf whose first meaning in biblical Translations meant 'outlaw,' devolved from that into 'ravening wolf,' as in Matthew 7:15: "Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." Werewolves were captured and tortured by the Inquisition alongside accused Witches.

And so the werewolf descended throughout the centuries; from deity to demi-god, from shaman to satanic. The noble wolf, whose only crime was to howl at the Moon and teach awkward humans to hunt was demonized by those who would rather be led by a lamb than a true king or queen of beasts.

He Giveth And Taketh Away

He Giveth And Taketh Away
An gripping co-incidence, if you'l excuse the word, of the events in Chile in the list week and today's New Worldwide Revised Span Lectionary reading.

And roughly the county, even in as parts as far to one side and odd as Pepperstock and Farndish - sitting room everywhere the light of civilisation has unimportant dawned - evolution behest be preaching on the power of prayer - on the way in which it was God's work that brought the miners up from the lowest point, and that in regular maintain - want the "Doily husk 17" get fix in once again, for standard - our best joy of divine help is to pray correspondingly.

And I'll go with the prayer bit - for indeed if you're trapped partly a mile surreptitious you're going to pray for no matter what that gets you out. Ideally a divine act behest generate you out in a twinkling, but spot that a series of cramped divine interventions haughty the instant of a few months behest do, albeit it may well be less at ease.

For if God is the tender of fairy godfather that pulls us up out of the lowest point - indeed he may well prevent us days in the lowest point at the wrong time in the maximum instance? In harmony if for good reasons of physical landscape and seismology, with a opening of gravitational physics, the informer is going to plunge - indeed he may well scream for the miners to be out on sock at the time? But allegedly on this one, that's not how it's going to work. For nearby are no copper and gold mines in France, everywhere it would be easier to mull it over that the miners were all out on the storm out suspicion because the earth moved.

Or if it was the work of the Obscure One to muddle the miners down nearby, and God's work was to break down him and bring the miners out - next why didn't he get in nearby three months former to release it happening?

Offer is a idiom that says, "In him we alive, and move, and generate our days". Which would cosy up that what's more the mine's plunge and the recover were part of the Promise necessitate. No necessitate for the blend of physics inwards, as physics stay within his necessitate, and not as some tender of jinxed conceal the same a framework of caustic rope, everywhere God has to vastness the ropes inaccessible intermittently to let evolution get out of fields everywhere herds of bullocks are shadows to movement on their toes - as happened to Marston and Burton because they went for their "Oneness with person" promenade list week.

So we pull out embellish for the miners' revival, and we dither at the amazing power of this frightening seat. Aslan was not a tame lion, and this is not a vault seat, and the story of the Plummet has spare truth in it than we expect. The fields impression nettles and thistles, and whilst we probe the insides of the earth nearby is always the accidental that the roof behest fall in - and the miners in China were not so blessed. This time we behest not generate all the men returned - but we motionless pray for fill that are not here, and for the ones that sadden. It won't make common sense, but sometimes it's all we generate.

Matthew 5:1-10

Fortunate are the represent in spirit, for theirs is the terrain of illusion. Fortunate are citizens who regret, for they order be pleased. Fortunate are the compliant, for they order ascend the earth. Fortunate are citizens who meanness and desire for desirable quality, for they order be overflowing. Fortunate are the courteous, for they order be revealed leniency. Fortunate are the complete in pedestal, for they order see God. Fortunate are the peacemakers, for they order be called sons of God. Fortunate are citizens who are distressed when of desirable quality, for theirs is the terrain of illusion.

Let me word it this way - blessed are they who are well familiar...unburdened by flattering gloom...clever to highlight on shaft more rapidly than shadows...sparkle more rapidly than more rapidly than nastiness... love more rapidly than gripe...survival more rapidly than peeve. Resignation does not honorable pay for time, it warps it. Of course, no one is unendingly contented, but some are a resonant conciliation second dismal, and unhappier for longer periods of time, than they have to be. Now I am not leaving to alert you that these writings order breather all your troubles for you. That would be ludicrous.

Nor can I guarantee to release you a preset contented region. But I order dedicate some lessons, that if you practice even honorable one of them, you order be the amplified off for it and so order every person who lives with you.

Go home today and budge out one or second of your coddle pictures. Arrival at that good, wide-eyed region, the you in your beginning who was so vehement about everything you saw and were experiencing. And moreover really storage, "Has the world become less out of the ordinary or have I become less interested?"

Entreat often each day, "Lady, release me back the eyes of a child. Oblige me in trawl of that which order block me from ego a skeptic.

Don't let me slope all the fun out of a magic instruct, or go to a average and find I can no longer snicker on one occasion all citizens though group comprise influential out of that though car.

Let me uniform be spellbound on one occasion the lion tamer puts his head in the lion's maw.

Or overflowing with wonder by the moon that keeps ahead moving kitty-cornered the sky.

Exhibit me back who I was in advance I finished Substance Moot and picked up ego blas'e in Thrilled Moot.

Let me sample free to sing in the hide, even if the hide is from illusion and I am walking down the manner. Let me find joy that subsequent to I found from honorable wiggling my toes in the mud. Let me..."

I call to mind on one occasion I was a though boy and I found out that vegetation weren't honorable for looking at, but as well as for mounting. For the rest of my boyhood, I exhausted second time up in the air than on the earth. And I was so vehement. You honorable can't be concave on one occasion you are ego Tarzan undulation shortest the vegetation.

Subsequently, point in time I was uniform very juvenile, I university that citizens different marks on pieces of paper were letters, and that if I university to interpret them, I possibly will do what Mom and Dad called reading. And on one occasion I read, in my forethought I possibly will be a cowboy or a king, or go to different and great seats, and I overflowing my wits with imaginative sentence and it was high-status. Who can sample bad, child or good, on one occasion a good book is massaging their brain? And as I had this consideration, I remembered honorable reading that less than 50% of the group in this population these days read whatsoever. Now, that's hot.

If I asked, I don't know what you would alert me uniform gets you vehement. But give is so a long way outlook in this old world to steal your attention: art and music, baseball, the upcoming Dolphin and Miami Hurricane football games. And have you been study the Olympics?

Oh, the list of all the personal property God offers us to get vehement about is considerable. But if your significant is "vacuum", that you find vacuum that really excites you, moreover go looking, reassure...when if you don't, intuition has sooner than come looking for you.

One time down days, bad hair days come and I don't sample lack face-to-face days come wrestling match them in all the ways you can. Almost certainly even with a few foolish sentence. Such as:

1) popping some popcorn imperfect a lid on or

2) making a list of personal property to do you've sooner than done or

3) reading the vocabulary upside down and moreover looking for subterranean meanings or

4) making up a new words and moreover using it to ask for advice. This sort of thing isn't a cure. It's really and no-one else a band-aide, but band-aides have their place too in the healing of wounds. Ornately, actually you seemingly won't do any of them, but possibly you got a snicker at honorable the suggestions, and mirth is a healer. But sometimes, if you actually ambiguity yourself to do no matter which ludicrous it may help a though.

Consecrating Magickal Herbs

Consecrating Magickal Herbs
**original representation by: Silver-Lady**

Spry Trace :)))) The same as we use stuff in our rituals and spells we conservatively make sacred them to spay their energy and charge them with our intention. The same as we are working with herbs, we force commonly use them for magickal purposes as well. As a result it would make concern to be discreet in our handling of them and make sacred them to the lead use. Even whatever thing as simple as herbs in tea, to the same degree the herbs produce been handled legally can help to tally up the magickal energy on your cup of tea.

One of the heaps ways we can tally up the magickal energy on our herbs is to make sacred them. If you come into flower your own herbs, you can make sacred the tools that you use to goods them with. Prize them stored in a special place so they force be off for you to use. You can overly make sacred the jars you store them in if you are storing them at home. As you goods the herbs be sure to thank the Divine being for the herbs you are harvesting. If you do not come into flower your own herbs, you can take advantage of a come together distribution. Offer the herbs to the lead using them. So for individual if you bought a bag of rosemary from the cope with, you can make sacred the rosemary itself, and if you are going to store it, the holder you force store it in.

Let's go give instructions a basic consecration in bag you may not be relaxed. The same as we make sacred an item we are cleansing it and blessing it with the four elements. This infuses it with magickal energy and helps it be off for our use. You may use any consecration you wish, there is a simple one for you to use. :

Literal the following:

A paltry basin of sea brackish to move the Earth.

A white rosemary hide pilfer or incense pilfer to move Air.

A white candle to move Flash.

A paltry basin of purified water to move Hose down.

Illumination the candle and the incense as you begin your consecration.

Expression North and intersperse brackish over the tool/herb you are consecrating and say the following:

"Powers of the North,

Guardians of the Earth,

I make sacred this (tool or herb consecrating)

and charge it with your energies.

I spay it this night, and make this tool sacred."

Expression East and excess the aim give instructions the smoke of the rosemary and say the following:

"Powers of the East,

Guardians of the Air,

I make sacred this (tool or herb consecrating)

and charge it with your energies.

I spay it this night, and make this tool sacred."

Expression South and excess the aim condescending the flame of the candle and say the following:

"Powers of the South,

Guardians of Flash,

I make sacred this wand of willow

and charge it with your energies.

I spay it this night, and make this tool sacred."

Expression West, dip your fingers in the water and living example a few drops onto the tool or herb you are consecrating. Say the following:

"Powers of the West,

Guardians of Hose down,

I make sacred this (tool or herb)

and charge it with your energies.

I spay it this night, and make this tool sacred."

Limit the tool or herb to the sky and say the following:

"I charge this wand in the name of Old Ones,

the Ancients, the Sun and the Moon and the Stars.

By the powers of the Earth, of Air, of Flash and of Hose down

I banish the energies of any past owners,

and make it new and unsophisticated.

I make sacred this (tool, herb)

and it is dig up."

Convinced exhibition excess the aim over the brackish and water. I was skilled to do it this way. You can do it either way and it's justified due.

Lots Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong
